Legal Literacy Cell is functioning under the able guidance of Dr. Parveen Arora (Dept. of Public Administration) and Mrs. Rajwinder Kaur (Dept. of Business Mgmt & Commerce). The prime objective of the cell is to create awareness amongst the students regarding their rights. The students are also made aware of the free legal services being provided to them by various agencies. The activities of the cell during the session 2021-2022 are as follows:
Legal Literacy Club and Swachhata Action Plan Committee in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana organized an Extension Lecture in the college campus on November 12, 2021. The theme of the lecture was “Äwareness about Acid Attacks and Legal Remedies Available”. Dr. Simranjeet Kaur Gill, Principal, School of Law, CT University Ludhiana was the resource person. While addressing the students, she talked about various issues like the importance of psycho-socio dynamics of each individual in relation to empowerment of girls and the significance of clean mind for a clean society.
International Literacy Day was celebrated by IQAC and Legal Literacy Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Applications on September 8, 2021. Co-ordinators of the club Dr. Parveen Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Administration and Ms. Rajwinder Kaur (Dept. of Business Mgmt & Commerce) along with Ms. Daisy Wadhwa(Head, Dept. of Computer Science & Applications) organized a workshop for Class IV employees. Keeping in mind the UNESCO Theme 2021“Literacy for a Human-centered recovery: Narrowing the Digital Divide”, the event was held under the theme of “Digital Literacy Empowering Individuals”. Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications was the resource person on this occasion.
